Pink Everyday is dedicated to all the lives affected by breast cancer. The truth is that breast cancer is lifelong. There seems to be no end to the battle. My hope is that we can create a community of truth tellers by sharing our stories of grit, perseverance and bravery.

Pie without Pants!

I really wasn’t going to post tonight but too many amazing things happened and I just have to tell you about all the goodness. We checked into the Westin and got upgraded to the 29th floor with a sound view. Beautiful. I took an afternoon siesta and we set off for the Dahlia Lounge, my favorite restaurant in Seattle. It’s Sunday in January. Who knew you needed a reservation? We even tried to play to the card. No table. But wait…2 seats at the bar. Perfect. Much more our style anyway. We ate and drank our way through happy hour and then the best crab cakes you’ve ever tasted. You can’t go to the Dahlia and not have the Coconut Cream Pie. It’s the best in all the land. But we were so full. Awesome waitress Kelly suggested pie without pants! Brilliant. We ordered ours to go. Here’s the most amazing part. We had made friends with Cheryl, the manager. We told her our story and she shared that her sister was a survivor. When our bill came Cheryl had comped our dinner and all the desserts. She threw in the fresh donuts with rhubarb sauce and whipped cream, it was her amazing warrior sister’s favorite. She thought we needed both. They comped over $60 off our bill. A miracle. An absolute miracle. What a beautiful night. Grace upon grace.
