When you hear the word home how does it make you feel? Can you taste home? Smell it? I have always been fascinated by home. Perhaps I became a real estate agent because home is something I have always longed for. I am passionate about it. You can live in a structure that is not a home. It’s more of a dwelling place but doesn’t offer the safety and security of a true home. Sometimes home isn’t even a place. It’s a feeling we get when we are in the right place at the right time. It’s the smell of your mom’s cooking or the arms of a loved one. 

On March 23, 2020, home became an entirely new place for the world. In Washington we were told to Stay Home and Stay Healthy. Shelter in place orders were imposed. Home has all of a sudden never been more important. We long for the feeling of safety and security while a global pandemic is happening outside our walls. Home has become a shelter for our families, a schoolhouse, a workplace. Its role has changed drastically.

In honor of home we are dedicating the next few months on our blog to posts about Home. We would love to hear from our readers…how do you describe home? Submit photos, poems or a short essay. Each home story will be reviewed and could be placed on our blog.
