Homemade Fluffy Hamburger Buns

Are burgers on the menu for tonight? Out of buns. Never fear. Easy recipe. You will never buy buns at the store again.
- 1 cup Warm Water
- 1 packet Active Dried Yeast
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 cup Half & Half
- 75 grams Butter
- 4 1/2 cups Organic All-Purpose flout
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
Egg Wash
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Water
- Sesame Seeds
- Trader Joe's Everything But The Bagel Seasoning
In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine water, yeast and sugar. Let it rest for 5 minutes until foamy.
Heat the milk and the butter together in the microwave.
Add flour, salt, milk and butter mix to the foamy yeast mixture. Use the dough hook attachment and mix on low speed until a dough forms.
Once mixed, speed up to medium high and knead/mix for 5 minutes until the dough is soft and springs back when lightly touched.
Remove the dough hook. Cover with a clean tea towel and place in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Lightly punch down the dough. Sprinkle top with flour and turn out onto a clean work surface. Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll into smooth balls. Arrange on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, leaving room between each bun and leave to rise for about 45 minutes or until almost doubled in size again and puffy.
Whisk together eggs and water. Lightly brush each bun, including sides. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and Everything But The Bagel seasoning.
