Where The Heck Is Lilliwaup?
Best Travel | Hood Canal, Washington

Some birthdays whisper. My 50th roared. With a trunk full of snacks, hearts full of anticipation, and zero regard for cell service, our crew of 10 set off up the canal toward a hidden gem called Lilliwaup. The destination? Mike’s Beach Resort, where every cabin has a view and every night ends with a firepit confession or a s’more-fueled laugh.

Local Love | We were gutted to learn that Eagle Creek Saloon is no longer slinging burgers, but the memories (and that giant hamburger) live on. Still, the drive up is dotted with gems—check out our Port Orchard to Lilliwaup day trip guide for more stops.
Reflection & Takeaway It wasn’t about the birthday candles. It was about lighting up inside. About hearing your people say “I see you,” and letting the waves echo back, “Me too.” Sometimes turning 50 looks like a glass of wine by the sea with people who know your stories and love you anyway.
